I have something designed and on a CRT monitor it comes out too dark and on the LCD its perfect but when I lighten it up a little so its not too dark on the CRT then its too bright on the LCD, is there some standard way to go about this.

yeah calibration is a bitch! I just got an dell 24' and things are darker, higher contrast than my old 19" crt..

LCD's to blame?
'I suspect the influx of dark gray has much to do with LCD screens. These sites look nice and shiny on my LCD in comparison to the dull over-exposed look of CRT.'

I don't trust lcd monitors. The colour seems to change depending what angle you have your head at. Make sure you calibrate both monitors the same way.
you can even employ companies who come in and do it for you.
On the whole I trust CRT
