ok I just drew Japan as the team I'm going to 'be' for the worldcup in our studio sweepstakes. If Japan win I get everyone elses money.
What are my chances? I assume not good.

well, if you put money on them at paddypower you would get 250 to 1

wow, I'm screwed!

I picked Brazil in our sweepstake.
gerrrup Brazil.

I didn't pick Japan on purpose. We had to draw names from a bowl. Otherwise I would have chose brazil or england etc

William Hill's odds on Japan winning the World Cup = 200/1 - unlucky dude

I reckon whoever got the Czech Republic has the dark horse...
Ladbrokes.com had them at 33/1 a couple of weeks ago, with England at 7/1 - daft eh?
unfortunately I have no credit card, or I'd have stuck some cash on them :(

kelpie, William Hill has England at 6/1. Just under Brazil at 9/4, daft eh?

btw, it's gotta be worth putting a quid on Trinidad and Tobago, lol

are we only second favourites in english betting shops or is it actually proper worldwide odds, ie we have a good chance of winning?
- nicko0
The odds relate to the number of bets. The more bets the betting shop receives the greater the exposure on the business if that team/ horse / dog wins. So I guess it's UK only

I suspected as much

lol

yup, that's the script - found out I can use ladbrokes after all, so I just stuck 15 on the Czechs each way. :D
25/1
- nicko0
is that £7.50 each way? or a £30 bet? How does each way work in footy betting?
- nicko0
Kelpie, Czech Republic = 33/1 on Will Hill!
- kelpie0
fuck! hahaha
7.50 on each, winner or runner up (I assume), with a potential win of £296.25
