*** guitar related thread***
For those of you who haven't heard of him Bumblefoot (aka Ron Thal) is a guitarist and producer working in the US.
He is one of the 'new breed' of rock guitarists who are really changing the way people play. He sometimes uses a fretless metal guitar, somtimes with a thimble on his right hand to make high notes.
He plays the Bumblefoot guitar:
And he has now been appointed as the new guitarist in Guns n Roses, where I'm sure he'll be confusing a few people.

he's a good guitarist...but i don't know if he'll be the right match for gNr...

true. Slash was a rubbish guitarist but he fitted in the band (maybe that says something about GnR?)

I don't care how someone is good technically, unless it works for the band. GNR isn't technical, or require specific timing for their songs to work. Inversely a rock band like Rush would never work without incredible timing and technical ability. That's why Buckethead didn't work in GnR either,

i would consider buckethead and thal to be in the same area of styles...
maybe i'm nuts...
my friend and i saw ron thal and the gang in fort lee new jersey in a dive bar with pink awnings....pretty fuckin awesome show...
beer was only $1.50.
so yeah...

They're similar. I think Buckethead is way better though, the Praxis stuff he played on, and the Bucketheadland albums are really amazing and original.
