There was this girl who was killed near where I live a few months ago. It's an ongoing investigation.
This morning, my local paper put in pictures of everyone who was at a Mac's Milk the night she disappeared, taken from surveillance cameras, hoping that they would finally come in and tell the police any info they may have. This tactic is used out of the frustration the police have had with people not coming in to tell them what they were doing that night the girl was murdered.
Most of these people are probably innocent, but they have not come in to help out in any way they can.
You can see a small photo of what the frontpage looks like:
http://www.canada.com/ottawaciti…Do you think this is an invasion of privacy? To embarrass ppl by having their pictures on the front of a newspaper so that they can go in an tell the police everything they remember from that night?
I think it should be done more.

would you be bothered to see yr pic there?
maybe the ppl havent seen/heard of it to come forward??
- Jaline0
Well, the police have been asking these people to come forward for a while now.
Just because your picture is there doesn't mean you have anything to do with the murder. However, if you see your picture there people may believe you're hiding something.

it is police's job to do it. they can go and find them if they want. I think it is nonsense to put pictures of people on the front page and makethem feel disturbed.

yeah totaly, looks like a damn good way to breed suspicion to me.

that's my point, some ppl willl see that as though yr hiding somethin when in fact you probably arent.
I never read the local paper in this city and watch national news so I could totally miss something like this if it happened here.
I wouldnt be too happy about having my pic on the front page of the paper

Nothing wrong with it whatsoever.

good points.
hmmm...I just think it's a bit irresponsible to not go in after being asked multiple times by the police. Maybe there was a better way they could've done it.
- UndoUndo0
its not irresponsible if you dont see it???
- Jaline0
It's irresponsible if the police call you about the murder of a 17 year old and you refuse to talk to them.

Our faces, conversation, data are being harvested all the time but most of the time the value is in the larger pattern. Who we are exactly is less important then the trend we are a part of. This is different. Here the police are interested in the individual and its not credible they can't figure out who those people are without asking. Its cynical marketing so people think the police could solve the crime if only people came forward. To say what?
Sorry about the murder and hope they punish who did it.

You have been asked several times to come in and you have not yet come in for questioning.....the only way I can see for them to get you to come in is to ask for public assisstance and or put pressure on you to appear. If you still do not appear after this then you are in my book a suspect and should be shot at then brought in for more shooting.

(May 25 06, 05:56)Not if you're guilty it isn't.
- UndoUndo0
those ppl on the front of the paper have been called and then refused to talk to the rozzers?
thats irresponsible,
but putting their pics on the cover is too. I could only imagine that pout the pics there to identify those ppl

Stop snitching.
- UndoUndo0
why havent they brought them in if they know who they are??
- Jaline0
Not all of them have been identified:

As I understand it undo these people are unknown to the police they were simply at the store the night the murder happened, so the police haynae got a clue who they are. In order for them to assertain if they are innocent or cunts then they have to try to get people to recognise them and or get them to see their faces so they come in and say no I didn't do it or yes I did I'm a real shit.

"Many of the customers in the store during this time period have previously come forward or been identified through other measures. Police are requesting the persons shown in the photos to contact investigators or any person recognizing any of the persons to contact police."
