how specific can an IP address get in terms of finding location?
for example, could i find out someone's postal code based on their IP ...or their city?

Dude, once and for all I don't want you to send me your tighty whiteys.

simply by looking at the ip address? impossible.
You could run a traceroute on it, and that might yield some useful information.
sleuthing out this kind of thing can be a little challenging...and will take a while.

city yes, zipcode no.

you could get city, but not down to postal code

If you send me a lock of their hair, I can use my mind powers to make them shit their pants in public.

will a pube work?
- k0na_an0k0
Yes. But the last time I tried it with a pube I ended up losing it someplace in my cheerios.

if on static IP, city..... *maybe*. otherwise, you are state or country region at best. unless it is a very dense, well documented IP range and then more specific info can be had.
