I went here, clicked on the "Apple vs Beatles" link(s) on the left, and the popup window (for the video player) tells me "This is only for people in the UK" - WTF?!
Have we now entered the era of Online Nationalism?

You can try a proxy, but yeah, they block a lot of stuff. Five Live during football games and lots of other content.
- mpfree0
Nothing like us not blocking them but them blocking us.
ha ha wow
- vespa0
it's because all the bbc content is paid for by the uk license fee. so basically the bbc are putting it all online for free for the people who have already paid for it.
who is "us" mpfree? where do you put all your content up for free, legally?
- mpfree0
Here in the US, most of the sites that I've seen contain contents that is created for everyone. Everyone meaning the rest of the planet.
What content can't you see vespa?

bullshit jaz
- kelpie0
this has really hacked me off lately. :(
- mpfree0
ok, name a US-based site that blocks their content?
You'll be hard-pressed to find one
- vespa0
they are only clips, not entire shows.

(May 16 06, 08:40)you need to sign up for those though. I'm also blocked unless I sign up. right?
- jevad0
The BBC do not charge for their content! Sites like CNN - you can only view some of the video or stories if you pay a subscription. Same goes for other news sites like http://www.scmp.com and the like...
- Jnr_Madison0
Missing the point, we are made to pay for it. You aren't forced to pay for us site content.
- mpfree0
they are only clips, not entire shows.
vespa
(May 16 06, 08:40)yeah they are only clips for us too. It's a pay to watch privatized channel.
- Concrete0
Suckville. Glad I'm a UK resident I need BBC.
- vespa0
yes i know they are only clips for you too - you don't have publicly funded national television and radio on the scale that we do. that's why we have a different subscription model from you online.
- determinedmoth0
I wouldn't read American press if they were giving it away.
- mpfree0
well either way, it's fucked up.
If a US website blocks you guys because you didn't paying a subscription that's BS. Especially if it's free to US Citizens.
I don't get it
