I have a PC with a 2.6 gHz processor and 2 gigs of ram, but photoshop cs2 still lags all the time. I've tried playing with the memory allocations in the preferences but it didn't help.
I also have PS 7 installed on here which runs smooth as a hot knife through butter.
any ideas?

I'm in the same boat as you 2.3ghz with 1.5gigs of ram, CS 2 is slow as sh*t. I just go back to using CS.

Enter response:
i've got the nvidia 6800 256 meg card... dual monitors mind, 2 gig ram, 3.2 ghz pentium...
... it's a bit of a hog still - but I still multi-app okay.
I have two internal drive and a few externals also so I allocate scratchdrives and also bump my memory usage up to about 75%...
... nothing else seams to suffer really... CS2 working well w/my setup.

Yeah after some google searching, it appearss that a lot of people are having this problem. Hopefully things will be fixed with the next version. There's really not too much in CS2 that I need.

works fine on a multi cpu system. (either dual core or dual cpu).used to lag like sh*t on my 2.6ghz system.

has anyone asked Adobe Support about this?

Here's what I found about it a month ago:
- turn of font preview
if you don't see a difference, then
- when on nVidia card, turn off hadrdware acceleration in system properties (I can't seem to find these settings now on a matrox, but there was a slider in system prefs that needs to go one step down)
Worked for me.

I've set the scatch disk on a different drive to the program where I've got lots of free space and it seems ok to me.

Photoshop CS2 9.0.1 is available!

Switch back to CS or 7 and wait for CS3. CS2 is total Adobe abortion. I have a dual core machine with 2 gigs of ram and it dogs it, even when I made all the changes Adobe recommended.
