Help. Why is designing for yourself so difficult?
Does anyone have any suggestions about commiting to a logo?
Thanks guys.

haha!!
I have no idea why doing things for yourself is so hard!
It took me months and months and months to find an image. I explored so much, desperately trying to find something that would match the vibe, the feel, the theme, the idea in my head.
In hindsight, I think to design an Identity for yourself more efficiently you really need to brainstorm your concept, and figure out what you want to express with the identity.
I mean you can take a totally mechanical approach to that technique.. just spend lots of time exploring .. gogogogo

starting with a more original name could be your key to success...

I feel that most logos are superfluous anyway

Thanks Mojo. Good to know that others have the same difficulty.
Erm, V-gates, thanks... i think?

And blueprint is original I suppose?
However, Mr Snuggles is quite original. Gay, but original.

snuggles is quite sensitive about the name concrete due to having unhappily worked there

I have a hard time self-branding because I don't want to settle on a design style or industry. imagine if a client came to you with a brief that read: "I want to be all things to all people as who appreciate considerate solutions."
i'd tell 'em to take a hike.

I can't believe you dissed mr_snuggles for having a gay screen name. there is something totaly absurd about that.
- kelpie0
but anyway - I feel your pain, I am my shittiest ever client, any time I hire myself. Probably all the missed deadlines :/

Dancer has got it right - do some nice typography and have it compliment your work - keep things simple - if you dont you will be redesigning your stuff forever.

Designers by nature always want to improve things, this is a good thing and in this case bad because your own image is so important so you want to improve it all the time.
That is why many studios hire other studios to do their image.
you can do it though, just have outside input.

Wise words bukka.
You are very right!
Thanks

Treat yourself like a paying client. Write a proper brief with objectives, schedules and budgets, and make it into a real live job. Just don't send yourself a bill at the end.

if you do that you might as well change yr screename too, for verisimilitude.
