developers evolution

  For you developers out there I'm curious to know what the evolution is for you career-wise. I've had a devil of a time finding good developers for a position and I'm wondering why.

  Do good developers get bored and want to move more into hard core programming/engineering? Are there front end developers who have no interest in being designers or engineers but still are kick-ass?

  Just curious.
