but you have no vaild arguement why its a good ad?
also, you are very biased toward apple.
what to me it doesnt make sense about that ad is that their line of business and where they are going. for so long, they have said that their motorola processor was much better than intel ones but now that they have switched. looking at that ad, they are not creating some comical relational base around pc and mac but rather they just dont know where they need to stand in their product line. the ad it self lacks messaege. it holds on to its core value product and its business of ipod to leverage their argument but yet it is very thin messaging

dinky
what the fuck are you talking about?
The clear message is this:
Mac and PC are compatible, because of what Apple has done, and Macs do things BETTER.
That's pretty clear.
And, yes, I own a Mac, yes I am biased, and yes Apple is better.
Now show me an ad for Microsoft that would make ME switch, and that would be a pretty fucking good ad.

than there is no valid arguement from you.
you are predisposed of the brand and it product hence you cant see how good or bad an ad is.

dinky,
you sound like a fucking computer. Do you have a virus or something. I think you need to restart. You keep saying the same shit. Must be a glitch in your system. better get that looked at, buddy.

(May 2 06, 08:25)my point exactly, there is no valid argument here. i guess apple is targeting ppl who are unable make a sense in terms of understanding advertising but rather just be aww-ed by shine pretty things
- Mattiadesign0
Dinky you are right. However if there no argument, STOP arguing!

haven't read the above, but i will say:
i love my Apple product but the slamming PCs is getting cheap and so old. this latest group of ads is borderline insulting (to mac users).
i wish they could move away from targeting PC users and clue in to their core market's interests...
i'd way rather just see 30 secs of cool imagery or motion or music that professionals *really* using Apple product have created on their Macs.

so consumers only have two choices, stuffy idiot or smarmy dork. apple pushes buttons until they break. dumbing down does speak to the low intellect masses whom they're courting.
I should go into advertising

i think is more of the same old crap talk, its like "i prefer mortal kombat than street fighter!!"
CRAAP TAAALK
besides... what are "macs" saying about "pcs"? even now they use Intel technology between their legs!!!!
ok ok.... I know... crap talk!

*sigh*
We're not the target audience, you dorks.
It's for NORMAL PEOPLE.
We're a bunch of picky, finicky, anal retentive designer/techie types.
OBVIOUSLY this magical ad campaign isn't going to sway us. Ad compaigns DONT sway us. Facts and experiences do.These are for the 'common man' just like ALL other advertisements.
Don't give me this "Apple is just selling on design and shit-talking, and that's bad" crap.
That's what advertising IS.
It's showing, in simple digestible terms, these facts and what things ARE better about Macs.
I don't think anyone would argue that these ads aren't based on reality.THey're for two reasons:
1. Informing the benefits about the product, what's "BETTER"
2. They're funny.
As for Dinky - you're full of it.
It's quite obvious to me where they're targeting their sales: consumers, prosumers and professionals.I don't know who made you the "product line industry placement" guru.
Apple's placed their products just fine. All your BS about switching to Intel is bitterness or boredom. They switched because IBM bombed it with the G5 and became much more interested in making simple processors for Nintendo/Microsoft/Sony where they could have guaranteed sales and high profitability.
OF COURSE they said the G5 was faster. It was at some points in time, other points it was lagging behind - Apple wasn't gonna admit that in their marketing material. Come on.
I'd venture to say you're predisposed to dislike Ads that you don't get or aren't targetted towards you.

i think the ads work better on the web, as a set, than they do on tv. the choices for actors are appropriate.
i first saw the ads on the net:
http://www.apple.com/getamac/ads…
and i thought they were funny. love the freezing one.saw them on tv last night, and they weren't as great.
im a pc user btw, for the record.
