Styleguide depth

I have a small-med size client (2MM yr revenue) who is thinking about adding marketing and initial advertising specs into thier new identity styleguide.
My gut thinks these are two separate documents with the ID being essentially finalized, and any advertising documents being on a campain by campain basis...
...but it does give future designers something to build off of...
Thoughts?

go with your gut, unless the marketing section has specific guidelines and instances regarding the usage of the identity and assets in said context.

Thanks JD. As I am creating the styleguide, I'll most likely create a broad marketing section in it and refrence additional future documentation as needed for campaings. Maybe I'll build out a first campaing as an example/initial direction thing.

keep em separate but provide both to the people doing the adv campaigns

2 documents for sure. i see what you mean by having others have something to build off of, but frankly that is their job and what they are getting paid for w/ those campaigns.
sounds like fun stuff. ID/styleguides are some of my favorite things to do.
