i dont think so...you may be able to do it by creating a 3rd image and [HORIZONTAL DISTRIBUTE CENTER] this would cause the xxx equally and you can just erase the xtra 1.

i use command-u / smart guides, turn them on & off all day, probably my #1 keyb shortcut.

or use [smart guides] and go into preview mode and select the shapes to mount each other's paths manually.

(Apr 20 06, 13:56)should clarify; smart guides gives you feedback when object are aligned.. much more accurate than snap to point.

i leave on smart guides all the time and i am always told by super unexperienced designers that when they jump on my puter it annoys them...the smart guides is one of the most important tools in illy, especially when using layers for perfect accuracy.

Smart guides will work (I have them on all the time too), but you can also use the align palette's even distribution button. Select your two objects then (this is important) click on the "anchor" object again and set the distance to 0 in the little dropdown (it's usually Auto).
Done like dinner.
