I am curious to know if when people see movies like this if they automatically believe that the human race are responsible for global warming or if they know that this has not been proven. Does it occur to people that it may just be that the planet is getting warmer and would get warmer even if we weren't here?

People love to blame.

I think that's only part of the issue, the fact is it's true and the evidence is mounting...shit adds up. There's clearly a problem and if that means coming up with solutions for manmade contributions as well as dealing with the results of natural problems then either way there is something to be addressed seriously and urgently.

so it's just cow farts, right
our ridiculous amounts of pollutants and shit have nothing to do with global warming?
enlighten us
- khilled0
there's a lot to be said about dealing with disasters not blaming the causes...the misuderstanding was exemplified for example on CNN when they cut Bill Nye (the science guy) off because he started talking about national policy and fund allocations on the military when he had a real point to make about where their resources were being allocated (to war instead of disaster releif etc) Corporations that DO in FACT contribute to pollution would love to side step it in just about any way they can including 'blaming' natural cause or even just people...India produces more methane from shit than all the SUV's the US

Bill Nye was so cool. I used to love watching his show in class.
As for global warming, humans definitely are contributing to it. That's just common sense. I'm not sure if it's as big of a deal as people say it is, with all the different opinions out there, but I still think there should be some concern.
I remember some comedian talking about how everyone's going to be black soon from global warming.
- khilled0
to answer your comment specifically the planet is indeed getting warmer and it will cause a great deal of harm...the conversation should largly be how do we prepare? how do we help? which I think is more where the film is headed instead of being a anti-corporporate, evironmentalist romp

Looks good on his resume too when he runs for Pres again.
Compelling trailer.
- version30
you know,
it's most likely like this...
the earth, yeah, she keeps a-changin'
and well, it killed the dinosaurs
it might just kill us too.
regardless of how many trees we hug
- k0na_an0k0
Yeah, I really can't see the dinosaurs fucking up the ozone layer with their gas guzzling cars and plastics and what not. Maybe their giant shit caused global warming back then too. Who knows.
On a related note. Madonna's camel toe will now be refered to as a Brontosaurus toe... cause that bitch is old.
- version30
all I'm saying...
i saw this show on discovery science the other day, sorry I couldn't get it converted
it summed up the earth since the big bang to present time in 12 hours, midnight to noon
dinosaurs didn't show up until 23 min til noon and died out with 7 minutes to go lasting 16 minutes total out of the 12 hour scale
man (since the first bi-peds) has been on the planet according to the same scale for 15 seconds
there is alot we don't know and will never understand
i can admit that
i don't give man as a whole enough credit to have the ability to destroy a planet in such a small amount of time
the planet will be ok, we should save ourselves from one another before we worry too much about this big rock, it'll be ok without us

Humans is fucking up.
There is a whole bunch of factors atributing to global warming. It's a big chain reaction actually.
So for example as it gets warmer, the ice caps melt, which means less sunlight is reflected (albedo) and global warming is therefore accelerated: more bad rays, and increased global warming.
(The melting of the caps, also releases trapped c0^2)
Increased water levels. Loss of habitiat. And as the ice melts into the ocean it also screws up its ability to act as a c0^2 sink hole. etc. etc. One thing effects another. We are difinetly not helping by pumping toxic shit into the envorinoment. Cutting down trees, producing way too much packaging blah blah blah

There's all this information available to you, and you still don't think we're involved in the acceleration of all these effects?
Do you really think that it would get warmer if we weren't here? What's your rationale?
- version30
that same science says that this entire planet was once a ball of ice, it warmed up without our help, i don't see why it shouldn't keep doing what it does
man needs to realize that we are nothing in comparison to nature
so what would man really try to do if the world was heating up?
try to cool it down?
no, even if we tried, we'd fail, because nature will kill us all, like it does everday with cancer, old age, etc.

atleast there will be something good at the movies this may.

I'ma open a can of whoop-ass on mother nature, that fickle slut..

You know anything about Milankovitch cycles question? Is that what you are talking about? Or are you just spouting off your usual shite? I bet you probably think global warming was invented up by the Europeans to have a go at America.
http://deschutes.gso.uri.edu/~ru…
Yes the earth warms and cools by itself but there is mounting evidence to suggest we are directly responsible for the acceleration of it's warming.
- lebowski0
weren't we supposed to be going into a new ice age? things could work their way out
