Anyone have advice on good digital point-and-shoots, or possibly - good fairly-priced digital SLRs?
According to most reviews, Canon Powershot seems to be the best bang for the buck
Any suggestions?

canon sd20 or sd30, i own them both - can't go anywhere without them.

Definitely recommend the canon powershot series.
I've had my s200 for 4 years now and it still works great. I can get decent 5x7s out of it and its only a 2.1 MP!
I have many friends and family with newer models of the powershot series and all are happy.

I like the canon results.. I have a sony, and its not good.. it does the job, but canon, does better.. so does nikon.

the nikon coolpix serious is a really well made camera. the canon powershots take good pictures too except they are heavy.
i would get a nikon with a nonextinding lens.

agreed with the SD500 its 7.1 MP, and super small, stick with canon.

yeah, i've got an old 4mp powershot and it rocked up until a few days ago when my cat knocked it off the counter. i'll defininately be getting another one. i'm thinking the 7mp sd550. a friend has one and it's supah. they just released new ones so i figure you can probably find one of the older models cheap.

as far as SLR, the Canon Rebel XT is the way to go. Says me.

the new powershots look pretty slick, though they've ditched the 7mp sensor for a 6mp one. hmmmm.
