"The US is stepping up plans for an air strike on Iran, possibly nuclear, according to a report by influential investigative journalist Seymour Hersh."

now, that would be ironic, use a nuke to stop them from using nukes.
- Crouwel0
well it's like torturing people to stop the torture of terror..

Wasn't this a plot twist in the Left Behind series somewhere?

"A former senior defence official is quoted as saying the military believes a sustained bombing campaign against Iran will humiliate the leadership and lead the Iranian public to overthrow it."
Yeah, that worked real well in Iraq; i'm sure that tactic will work great in Iran, where not too long ago a US-backed corrupt shah was toppled, an Islamic revolution was ushered in, and the US was pronounced the Great Satan. Who comes up with this shit? Fifth graders who've never read a history book?

well actually - it did work real well in Iraq. Go there and see for yourself. I did.

Question(Apr 9 06, 12:16)
apparently, you're not too good with recent history, either. remember after the first gulf war, when Bush Sr was urging the locals to rise up? The Shiites and the Kurds did, got no support from the US and were brutally put down. Ten more years of Saddam. Good times.

They have to be stopped.
- ukit0
It may or may not be true, but I get the feeling stories like this are at least in part a way for the Americans to intimidate Iran...to apply some pressure without being too overt.
- Question0
GreedoLives have you been to Iraq or are you just reporting from your sofa and tv?
- GreedoLives0
Are my facts wrong?
- ukit0
What did you go to Iraq for Question? Not arguing, just wondering.
- Question0
Go to Iraq first then let's have this conversation.
I spent 3 months in Iraq with my brother and his wife who is Iraqi. I spent time there and saw the popular opinion with my own eyes. I felt safer in Iraq then I do in Harlem or Compton.
Bottom line is that the media loves to report bad and they will find it anywhere. Iraq is much better off now and the people wont stop telling you that when you visit.

If this is the end, then where do I sign up?

But the argument isn't even about Iraq. It's about Iran.
It's about how a bombing campaign is supposed to let the Iranians overthrow their government, like it was supposed to do in Iraq after the first gulf war. But it didn't. And this time it's supposed to work on people that plainly hate the U.S.? That's bizarro world thinking, at best.
