I've finally gone freelance after 5 years of 9-5! Check out my new website:
http://silencer.re-loc.net/
Let me know what you think.
Most of the work on here will be replaced as the months go by with new stuff, and its only version 01 so I'm sure it'll become something totally different as time goes on...
First job is for Boards of Canada which will be online just before their new ep comes out 060606.
And big up to all the peeps on here who helped me out over the years with .as issues!
Cheers.

your work is trippy to the eyes in a really good way!!!!
best of luck as a freelancer!!
always remember to estimate more than you think you will earn when claiming your taxes, and also remember get a receipt for everything you can and i mean everything!!!!!write offs baby!!!! write it all away!!! get your receipts to back it up!!!
also always get all contracts in writing i cant stress enough how a verbal conversation can be forgotten and all work can be for nothing, make sure it is all spelled out for all actions you create, and charge the client for it, dont hesitate either, go for it!!!!
good luck!!

hey epill cheers for the good advice. Luckily I work with 3 other people in a co-operative type operation so one of us makes sure it's all running smoothly in that respect! I am still officially a freelancer tho so my accounts are going to be fun :\ Luckily I just bought a powerbook... and you know I'll be writing that shit off!

yup you are right derek, I''m working on a script where it picks a random sound from 5 clips. Just takes time to create the audio so it all syncs perfectly. Maybe I'll use random intros and outros too hmmmmmm

if you just purchased a pb in the last month you can write it off for this year and next year.
my accountant explained this to me as i just purchased a macbook pro.
and the write off holds for both years legaly.

hey stuff,
congrats and welcome to the freelance world. I was just wondering how are you doing to get your past work shown in your website.
Like your past employers let you post the work you have done for them for your own benefit?
cheers!

Unfortunately it was around 2 months ago which is probably too late :(
Hows your macbook pro working out for you?

the macbook is really fast.
there are negatives such as it gets really hot, and ily sometimes can be sluggish but everything else is fast!!i like it! it is working well for me.

Only four of them are jobs I did in other agencies, the rest I created on my own time as a freelancer. If they asked me to remove them I would, but what they don't know won't hurt them ;)

cheers Kelpie big chap.
Mac book pro sounds pretty good e-pill, think I'll wait until I've had a good run out of this one first, it does the trick for the moment! (Have you seen those external USB fans you can buy? I ahve one for my old powerbook and it works really well!)

Best of luck Stuff.
I've been at it for just over a year now and find it much nicer than working for someone else.
The two bits of advice I got (that have already been mentioned here already) is receipts for everything, and if possible try and get a safety buffer of about 2 mnths wages to help tide you over. People never pay as quick as you like, so that takes tons of pressure off.
I'm sure you'll be right with a folio like yours.
