the best thing you could possibly do is to sign up for some life drawing. if you're in a city, there should be a place near you that offers it, and probably for very cheap. community college, gallery, adult ed, anything. there's usually someone that leads these things and they're usually more than happy to give you some tips. imo it's much better to learn by watching others/doing than by doing some dumbass exercises in a book with no feedback.
