is there a way to boost your RAM usage for rendering. mines only ever goes up to 60%
any other tips for faster (full res) rendering?

Close the porn that you're watching in the other window.

cheers, done that, any other suggestions?

Sometimes some clever render cue setup helps. For example, say if I have some clips loaded with layers and animation and whatnot, but also with some filters dropped over it. Render the animated clips first. Reimport the new footage, and then rerender with filters.
Various combinations of that can speed things up.
Don't know if that helps you tho...

so u can't up the RAM usage?

Close the comp window before rendering that'll speed it up because there's no screen preview.

If it's at 60% then that's all you need. You need a faster processor to do faster rendering.
As for the screen preview, that's just your graphic card. Make it smaller if you have a lousy card, but remember that it's primarily your processor that is doing the rendering. Depending on how your scene is setup (for example, raytraced shadows use your processor, soft shadows use your ram) will have a huge impact on how it's calculated.

i usually just close all running programs, close the preview window, hit render, and go watch tv or something.
