I said to call it 'Sparky' becuase mine shocks me as I get out of it because there's a bad wiring harness inside the door and a-pillar. A common problem that the recall didn't fix.

Heh, good suggestions so far. I was thinking about "The Obliterator"
The 99 i bought is in the old body style. I guess those didn't have as many problems as the 99's made with the newer body style...

(Mar 23 06, 13:26)Careful of the cracked engine block issue then. Those plagued the old ones as did the wiring issues. And the door locks are gonna fUx0r with you too. Alas, the old models were much better and in my opinion, looked excellent.

Hopefully you got a good deal, the VR6 is fun to drive.

(Mar 23 06, 13:30)Nope. It's what you wanted, so it's not a bad decision! Be happy with it and enjoy her! She provide you with a ton of driving enjoyment. The maintenance may/may not be a big issue for you. In the end, its's about how she makes you feel.
That being said, we're heading back to BMW's from now on. Got rid of the 525 to buy that Passat. =[

the door locks ARE ALREADY screwing with me!
Oh well...$6500 for the VR6. it is fun to drive. interior is clean...everything is well maintained...guy who sold it to me was a freakin' nut...

Um, the chances of your block cracking 'just because it's an issue' are pretty low. If you watch your temp gauge and don't do redline shifts all day, you should be fine.
- Gilt0010
Oh and oil sludge shouldn't be a problem assuming you 'change your oil' and such...
Mass airflow sensors can be swapped out, as can the whole intake system (a la Cold Air Intake).
Funky electrical things can be a pain, but it probably won't be THAT bad if it does happen.

how about "that picture of the chick on the internet who gives you wet dreams and whose picture you should've saved off in case it got taken down and then it gets taken down and you don't get to see it again and you get just plan ripped off"
