- lowimpakt0

- Pan-Dulce0
you love it?
I'm asking cause i might move there and since i've never been i want to get an idea of life there
- not_lebowski0
could the pubs counter balance the shit weather?
- Pan-Dulce0
i'd be too drunk to notice
- bukka0
Maybe you should visit a city before you move there?
- not_lebowski0
I figure getting drunk off of decent beer listening to old farts drone about how they hate something or other while you make eyes with some hag in the corner would be a good time
- not_lebowski0
why? you dont visit your home town until youre born there

i would live there in a second. i love ireland. hands down the most "comfortable" country i have ever spent time in.
dublin is dope.

dublin - super expensive, rainy ass city where all the money in the country is located and people run around like there in beverly hills except there tans are orange.
but i fuckin love it there.
and its less rainy than most places in that god forsaken country

there is lots more to dublin than pubs but there are great pubs. It has gotten expensive in the last few years especially property. It is quite small but compact. It may take a little while to scratch under the surface to get to the creative underbelly but there is lots going on. As a capital it is fairly chilled but has it's usual problems of traffic and crime.
the weather is no worse than most places in western europe. In fact it is not as cold and wet as most places in Europe - it just has a bad rep for rain - the whole green fields thing.
I'd say visit it for a short while - soak up some of the vibe in the better pubs (i don't mean uber posh) some of the smaller regular clubs and restaurants etc.
to be honest, and i know it's a total cliche, I had to leave to realise how much i like it. Apart from all the really annoying aspects it is a great place - so if you can rise above the annoying crap (like any city) you'll get on fine.

my sister lived there for three years, and said its a bit small, you go to the same places all the time etc. It has overtaken London in terms of cost of living too, which frankly is nuts.
I think the 'great place to visit' is my take on it.
- kelpie0
smallness being an issue is surely personal preference though...
Only thing I've heard on the negative about Dublin is the amount of Brits staggering around the place on pissed up stag do's, to be honest...
- kezza_20
most pubs don't accept stags through the doors now.
Id compare Dublin to Manchester

-----------------stag parties and middle aged birds wearing cowboy hate can fuck off.
It depends on where you go - they seem to converge on temple bar which used to be a great cultural/artistic area before it was poshified. nice organic farmers market there on a saturday, usually free outdoor cinema (during summer), film centre, gallery of photography in same area etc etc

ha ha "cowboy hats" not "cowboy hate"
- kelpie0
haha, I think you've got the hate covered ;)

i was born in dublin, man. and so were two of my five kids. they stay there actually, and i still keep a house there to be near them and that. i'll probably move back there when i retire,or when i make enough money to support all me fucking kids man.saying that i'm there quite often cos i'm sometime working in wexford as consultant for the golf club! i'd give it a try if you fancy staying there, but mind, us real irish like, you know, we move around the globe like a fine concoction of fuckin' spunk, shite, whiskey, piss and blood! daft eh?
