Are any of you with hosting from (mt) running Wordpress on your site?
I have the (ss) account and I have successfully installed Wordpress, but everytime I try to upload a image I get the following error...
"Unable to create directory /home/virtual/site475/fst/var/ww... Is its parent directory writable by the server?"
Anyone know how to resolve this?
Thanks in advance.

Have you CHMOD the folder to writtable?
- chz0
I haven't changed anything... just installed Wordpress and went from there.
How does one go about changing the folder to writable?... and which folder would I change... to root directory that holds Wordpress on my server?

Hope you get this resolved. I've been planning to install wordpress to an MT site later this wk.

You have to change the permissions on /uploads
Some FTP clients let you change folder permissions/CHMOD. Change to 777 to be sure.
Have you actually created /uploads ? Does the folder exist?

I had to request to turn on PHP "Power Mode" from mt in order for it to work.

"power mode"? is that a free thing or did you have to "upgrade"?

You can go into your admin account, which is /admin after your website. Once in there you can go to the file manager, find the uploads folder (if it exists) and click on the name or folder and it will take you to permissions. There you can make the folder writable through their account manager.

wtf is power mode? i want to do this soon as well.
need to pay for it?
anyway, if it is only about chmod i can do it myself. bloody easy.

Thats the first thing to look at, use their knowledge database, extremely helpful.

PHP Power Mode allows customers to run their php scripts without most of the restrictions imposed by safe_mode

you dont need the safe mode switched off....you just need to chmod 777 ... you can do this with your FTP client.

Thanks everyone.

I advise placing a .htaccess file in the root folder of WordPress. Powermode is not the best solution for Shared Servers. Basically the .htaccess file will run your PHP scripts in CGI mode.
The best way to create an .htacess file on MT is to log into your ADMIN panel and navigate to your ROOT Folder through the FILE MANAGER.
Upload a blank text file called _htaccess and paste this into the text file:
Action php-script /interpreters/php-script
AddHandler php-script .php
AddHandler php-script .php3Upload the file and rename the file in your FILE MANAGER TO ".htaccess".
Then make sure your uploads folder is CHMOD 777

also another option is Textpattern.

Thanks devaur.

Be careful with the "Power Mode" I had it activated for a client to make a PHP based Shopping Cart function properly, and once activated you can only have one domain on that account - not 5 like normal.
- Clear0
Glad you said something radar. I would hate to lose the ability to have 5 domains. Really mess me up.

I have joomla (aka mambo) running just cause I wanted to test it. and didnt need power mode...
- chz0
Thanks for the heads up radar.
Do you have a link for that Ken?

I seem to be having this exact same problem. I'm using (mt) & supersimple blog. I tried to chmod 777 the upload directory but I keep getting "access denied". Its like the server won't let me change the permissions.
When I actually try to upload an image throug the CMS I get this error:
Warning: move_uploaded_file(): SAFE MODE Restriction in effect.
Anyone???
