does anyone know the dimensions (in inches or mm) of a standard US 'with compliments' slip?
It needs to go with a US Letter sized letterhead (215.9 x 279.4mm)

1/3 rd of the height of the letterhead

thanks, that's what I had assumed. Obviously that's what we do in england. Just wanted to check that the yanks didn't do something weird.

the yanks probably do do something weird, and I am only guessing!

i'm not entirely sure the yanks have compliment slips...
- Baskerville0
no me neither. Only us english are polite and old fashioned enought to send a compliments slip. But I thought I'd do one whilst I was laying out the weird sized letterhead.
Why a country wouldn't use the A sizing system for paper is beyond me.
'Ooh let's use a system based on inches' and while we're at it let's measure liquid in fluid ounces!
Not that we can talk here in the UK since we're still using pints and miles. When are we going to convert?

Us Yanks do something weird? Wow!
Here is a list of completely logocal things us yanks do:
1. Invade other countries for their oil rich resources (completely logocal...right?)
2. While all of our troops are overseas fighting, we leave New Orleans to be destroyed and its citizens suffer because there is no infrastructure left here to manage the disaster (out with the old, in with the new......right?)
3. Continually elect a religious eveangelical hell bent on making this country a religious state despite what the constitution says........ while at the same time, taking bribes and stealing from the middle class ..........we are with it boys!

woah naw!
this is about stationery!

I guess I shouldn't mention the wierdness of the US date format then?
- pyeaton0
No. please mention it. Sorry folks. Had to slip. Just read my cnn for the morning, and that usually fires me up.
Why does the UK still use miles and pints etc.....? Considering that the location next to mainland Europe, I would figure that the UK would almost be forced to switch to metrics. What do you use in your design there?

House Industries has a great comp slip. Embossing, reflective inks, it's the shit!

we cling to imperial measurements because it reassures us that our great Imperial past is still with us in some small way. ask moth.

i can't speak for everyone else, but the first thing i do when i sit down at a yet-untrained machine is command it to speak to me in picas.

I have my Illy rulers set in leagues, and fractions of leagues. For travel I like nautical miles.

My photoshop rulers are set to hands.
- kelpie0
that's a relative measurement though, what if you get a really big handed printer?!
- pyeaton0
i work in thingies. very accurate.

I'm more of a furlongs man myself

(Mar 21 06, 06:09)Yeah, it's a problem. But only because printers seem to have have very small hands. I think that is why they are so anal about ink coverage and bleeds and stuff.
- kelpie0
the small-handed generally are, I find...

(Mar 21 06, 04:54)Because we're awkward cunts and if you come anywhere my pint I'll knit a scarf with your small intestines.
