i second and third WP, i have used for a loooooooooooong time (right after MT started charging for the user of their blog soft) and never had any problem with it. extremly easy to skin if you know your HTML and CSS and XHTML if you like of course.

just an observation - but WP is like PHPbb to me, in that you can change a lot of the look of it, but whenever you see a WP site, you know that it is a WP site.
I am not sure if that is bad, or not, but just an observation.

It has to do with the person who is creating the template, there are a lot of templates out there and for that reason a lot of people would prefer to just download a template and use it on their site rather than building their own. WP is limited to your imagination.
just take a look at imakedesign sample:

no doubt about it. i suppose that it is more a problem of people being lazy, rahter than inability for the design to be flexible.

Am I retarded or does every manual that comes with a blog software suck? I downloaded and installed Nuclues and it doesnt explain anything on how to edit a skin or make your own. What they had was very hard to understand. Also there was nothing about how post actually entries. Why do blog softwares have to be so damn complicated?

not ot beat a dead horse, but thus supersimple.
just had to say it, even though i know that supersimple isnt perfect either.

i like wordpress. very flexible, can take comments off etc. Whether it's a blog you want or a cms, it has everything.
easy to use n all.

You might want to give this a try
http://newsphp.sourceforge.net/allows you to edit your template to any layout you want, pretty easy to use, but doesnt have multiple templates.
but worth a try!
