I like it, but the the sketchy/light drawing doesn't hold much weight againt the heavy typography, maybe if the drawing had a heavy outer stroke around it or something?

as a straight up design i think it's nice and works. as a poster for, what looks like a film/video festival with a deadline for submission, it doesn't come across as obvious. it seems as if you have the opportunity to push it a little further and give it a hint of cinema as well as hint of motion or moving imagery...
just a thought...

print it out, cut into strips wipe ass, call it software

tough to read...

it is lovely.
but the headers or whatever text in the horizontal lines are barely readable. remember it is a poster!
- version30
it sucks that you let text disappear in the intersection of blue and yellow
really sucks

yea, the black on blue is a bit tough to read. also i agree with the sketch not holding it's own. it's small and hidden behind the bars. also i think it has to do with the very flat structured graphics and then a pencil sketch. the black over the eyes seems a bit off as well, it's just kinda "there". i was also reading that as "hear no evil, speak no evil, see no evil". am i correct? if so you could just have the eyes closed, if you are going to go with the black over the eyes, then maybe do it with the mouth as well, without it getting too messy.

ver.3, yes that does suck. will fix.
redefine, excellent stuff. they had asked for a "hear no evil..." theme and i had forgotton the "speak no evil" part, so thanks to you.

i'd get another monkey illustration (there must be hundreds around), make it more prominent (it seems like an afterthought) and work the type more- maybe make some of it white so it's readable on the dark portions or something
the black kinda disappears on the darker portions

it's dull, sorry. too simple.

So what do ultra-modernism and the process of printing have to do with music?

if walking on the street would catch my eye. but am not sure if I would stop and read. How were you planning on this being used? printed to be posted on the street/ inside store or emailed to people/ just posted online? I think the type scale and size would vary depending on where it would be placed.
Also I am not seeing much of a type hierarchy. Yes the title is the largest and type is sub-pt sizes below, but What is it you want me to read next, after the "MusicVideoShow?" because my eye begins to wander after this and I end up being taken away from the poster- mainly because the monkey is looking to the right and many of the lines are directing me to the right.. that I look at the title an just keep moving right..
I am being a lil picky.. but looks like you are following a grid and lining things up/ and your "2006" and the "sprockets.filmathens.net" don't line up..
with the monkey I am not sure if you need many of them, but maybe you could play with scale, he does seem to be a lil over powered in terms of composition right now.
great start/ want to see where you take it

inspireme, thanks. it will be on the street/in shop windows/outside the venue. good point about the hierarchy, will have to adjust that. will probably go back and mess with the colors, perhaps a lighter blue. thanks, all!
