The Collected Short Stories of Roald Dahl. Just finished his other book of short stories called Switch Bitch, I love it just for the name alone. Don't be fooled these ain't fucking james and the giant peach / BFG / Charlie and the choc factory these are dark and with peppered with fantastic twists. A true genius. Respect!

Yeah, I've heard that book is pretty decent. "cloud atlas" is exceptional.
Another really excellent book I read a while ago was "The Corrections" by Jonathan Franzen.
Early Paul Auster stuff is mint as well ("Moon Palace", "New York Trilogy")

I just picked up and finished, "How to Make Love*
*The Bruce Campbell Way."
And laughed my ass off for three nites and could barely put it down for the life of me.
I highly suggest his auto-biography first, and then this. Classic stuff.
