say i've just loaded 'mypic1.jpg' into movieclip1 on the main timeline. is there a way that i can drop it into movieclip2 once it's loaded?
how so my scripting brethren?

drop?

i mean, basically i'm loading an image into a movieclip, then i want to shove that image into another movieclip (directly beneath the first) so that i can keep using movieclip 1 to load images into so they (and their transitions) always appear on top.
does that make any sense?

cheers dude, but that wont work for my application.
there must be a 'copy whats in this movieclip and paste it into another' command.

there are a ton of ways to do what you're asking...you'll have to load it into a clip and then when it's loaded, move that whole clip into the bottom clip using attachMovie...you can't just move the image by itself without reloading it.

i thought you could use attachMovie unless it has a linkage in the library? can you dynamically put things into the lib? i don't think you can

been reading up, i think i can do what i want with this instead of having 2 movieclips:
getNextHighestDepth());
i didnt realise you could determine the depth within the same layer of a movieclip.
think i'm ok from here. cheers

you are right jpea...i wasn't very clear in my description how to create the function. i still think swapDepth is the way to go.
