Fiberglass? Are they making a boat?
Google's been buying dark fiber for years. My bet was always on mass shared hosting (which would allow them to index hosting client sites and provide advanced search services, plus very consistent monthly revenue). ISP would also work, but seems to require more effort and less return. I'm still betting on hosting.

Google is the Internets.

Well then google makes a huge boat.
Maybe the got another technology laying around somewhere on their network which makes use of fiberglass.
Just out of curiosity which share should I buy to get on the fiberglass boat??

combine that with this:
and depending how far Google expands their dark fibre network (while ignoring the potentially really scary invasion of privacy) there could be a really positive impact on a lot of people

So would it be a limited interenet? As in just the website Google chooses? As in a half-assed yet affordable internet?
I'm not really sure how it works. You know like 80% of peole would buy the cheaper alternative even if it was limited, but that's 80% that won't see your website if you're not on Googles internet. Am I wrong?

it is certainly possible that google could assume editorial control over their version of the internet...i think more likely that that is that their AdWords clients would get pounded at users in more localized venues...personzlized advertising not unlike in gmail

it would be the whole internet.. just google could monitor everything.
very 1984.

isn't their motto, "do no evil"?
anyway, ywo internets would suck
like i'd have to choose which one to connect to 'n' shit and i'd have a shitty url like http://ggl.scarabin.net

i'd try it out........
maybe.

I'm sure it would be a seamless integration....just more stuff layered on top, that you pay for...
