With Interarchy (Mac) you can make Droplet icons that list a directory, or mirror synchronize a directory(up, or down, or both), or upload stuff dropped on it, and they also have 'FTP disk' which does some other sort of synching to a remote site...

on PC you can go to My Network Places and choose to add a network where you put in the ftp address, username & password and it creates a direct connection and you can the create the shortcut for you desktop.

You can actually use this command line on a PC once and then bookmark it:
ftp://yourusername : yourpassword @ ftp. your url here . com
It works in IE, Firefox, Opera. Same on Macs except you don't have the same ability to drag & drop once the window opens. I use fetch on macs. Hope this helps.
