Did you read their FAQ?
Kind of sounds more like a temporary holding camp (prison) to me.
I'll pass once again.

I heard that bands that play in coachella are not allowed to play in any other venue in california that same month, I find that hard to believe, but the truth is that I would love to see if massive attack will be playing somewhere else in cali.

(Feb 28 06, 15:09)Not true, Golden Voice (producers of the show) might have contracts with some of the bands, but a large majority of the bands also play venues around town that same week.
As a matter of fact, the brother of the owner of Golden Voice owns a venue called the Glasshouse. The Glasshouse usually hosts private shows of the biggest headliners scheduled to play coachella.
Such was the case last year for the bauhaus and the year before for the pixies. Both of which, I'm proud to say, I went to.

I wouldn't waste my time depositing a steamer on Fred Durst.
- Meeklo0
what is fred durst? is that another venue?
Thanks for the tip about glasshouse.

SHELLLLLLLLIIIEEE
I'm so jealous. I want to attend that concert sooo badly.
Oh well, I'm still seeing Metric this weekend.

lol @ being on the radio being the only reason to like the white stripes. also, the go team was pretty bad live.

also coachella is awful, just awful.
way too many people, way too hot, the bands are all used to playing small clubs and sound like shit playing on a huge stage in the sweltering heat, you're always feeling like you're missing something that you want to see, the organizers are making sure to fuck you over for every dollar you have with you. lines everywhere, everyone seems way too hot to be having fun.
some of the bigger evening shows are great (pixies/radiohead/air/flaming lips in '04), but you're watching the show on a tv & listening through speakers. who cares? rent a dvd.
- Meeklo0
I disagree..
Coachella will be great if you have a positive attitude, you like the bands you are going to see and you share the experience with good friends.a DVD will never replace the experience of being there.
But if you are set with the idea that is going to suck migh balls, then my friend... it will..
and this is not only for coachella but for any single thing that you do in life.
just a thought

well, I love most of the bands listed.
I probably won't ever attend it, but it'll be interesting to see how I can cope with the heat. It's REALLY freezing right now in Ottawa.

Coachella '99 was great. Went to finally see Underworld live (we didn't get them very often 'round here).
Coachella '04 was ok (Underworld again); vibe was a little different.
It's w a y better than the festivals we get here in TX, US.
A great way to handle accomodations is to split up a rental house between a good number of people. Palm Springs has some great rentals (30 min away if I remember correctly - alchohol filled week).
Anyway, enjoy.

nah, i have plenty of fun in life, dude, but coachella just doesn't do it for me.
