service design is as it sounds. it relates to the design and management of the design of services. Most people think it is a load of wank and only a route for unemployed product designers to squeeze more cash from life. But in the UK over 70% of GDP comes from the service industries and the role of design within these industries in becomming increasingly important.
i'm just wondering about it because most of the people in it at the moment sems to come from a product design background but there are some interesting sociological and psychological strands running through the discipline.

Well, I'm doing lot's of that stuff with a major Dutch bank right now. ATM screen design and working with interior designers on some store interiors and such, form design, etc...
