the guy who digs for cans in the trash at my local dunkin donuts, though fucking tapped, is a great source for running commentary on current events.

now, i realize that Fox is a business...as such, they want to MAKE MONEY. And they're doing a great job of it pandering to the right, and fear-mongering.
The problem is that it's harmful to public discourse. When you have a person like O'Reilly, or Gibson spouting off outright falsehood, you start to screw things up.

dob's does all his news viewing from the situation room.

I love how they critique movies they probably haven't even seen. I doubt anyone walks out both of either of those two films with those observations. In both movies the system is the villian, humanity/culture at large, they don't draw any conclusions about blame either.
Foolish journalists over there at Fox.

seriously.. wtf do you want? yes Fox News has their agenda.. as does the other spectrum of 'journalism'...
... I subscribe to Democracy Now's podcast... as left and liberal as it comes... (argue it all you want but it is)... This show continuously shows what the other side is thinking about etc... and none of the stories you hear on this show you will hear on Fox (and vice versa).
My point - both sides are doing their own shit. Rather didn't check his sources - that's just sloppy... and the news story (about ditching medical check-ups and being a spoiled white boy who gets his way) was brought out to make Bush look bad - don't even try and tell me that there wasn't an agenda in that useless peice of journalism.
Simple fact - both sides have their way of delivering their agenda via media outlets - and both do it all day long w/one simple goal in mind - making their living (don't kid yourselves - the only idealists in this world are the youth who don't know any better or still have their passion...)...
... the 'leaders' on both sides of this argument both have valid issues that rarely are brought to the front and handled as they should be because neither side is really willing to change.
Both sides cause alot of problems... and both sides love to point fingers and stir up shit...
... and when it comes to specific things in life - I'll trust a demmy over a 'publican any day of the week... and vise versa also...
But everyone bends and twists and dramaticizes the hell out of shit to pull their own little key points out to push their own little agenda.
oh... and Syriana... good film... lots of valid issues and some understanding on how things are in the world... but... BUT... there's one key JOKE about that movie that I've yet to hear anyone comment on:
Where in the world do we have a situation where a country could possibly go one way or the other all over the choice of a Good Son vs. a Bad Son? That scenario doesn't exist... that's a perfect storyline for a Fairy Tale - but if you can point out where there's a situation that's as 50/50 as that... and where the evil greedy folks of the wolrd murder everyone to have their way... then maybe I'll start taking Hollywood movies to heart.
But that story loses any of its credibility in my book as it incorporated such a fairy tale-like key plot of the Cain and Able scenario where one is good and one is evil - and the evil rulers of the world choose the evil son... that's too holly wood.
Oh yeah... if what O'reilly is quoted as saying in the article at the beginning of this thread - then what a tool... he's just as bad as the other side.

enough with your abbreviated thoughts, pony boy. i want an in-depth analysis of what you mean.

They did a whole movie on this topic didn't they... outfoxed?
After watching that, I only look at Fox News as a source of comedy, and an illustration of where the portion of the misinformed American public gets a lot of its information from.
O'Reilly is a disgrace to the human race, he promotes ignorance and intolerance, and should be gagged for eternity.I think the 'some people say' part of the documentary was the harshest indictment of Fox the 'commentator' as opposed to Fox the 'news broadcaster'.

the "all news is biased" seems like such a limp wristed argument.
sorry to those seeking easy answers, but the world is not so left and right, black and white...
"fair and balanced" comes off as "angry and simple minded" to me...

pavlov has this song on his pink ipod mini:

Ponyboy: there is a slight difference between a cable news channel that touts "fair and balanced" and a lefty podcast, innit?

All mainstream news is biased and manipulated. Is this really still surprising to people?
