hello,
I am trying to make a logo that is all white and part of it has a shape that is 30% transparent so that the eps can be placed on any background and the shape will always be 30%. but when I place it in Indesign, the shape has no transparency. anyone know a way around this? what am I doing wrong?

you'll have to add the transparent section in Indesign. EPS files don't supporty transparency. In fact the only file type that supports transparency is the PNG format which 'aint no good for print.
if you cut the section out and save the EPS with a hole just add the transparent section in Indesign behind the logo or copy paste the logo (if it's vector) into Indesign and it'll be an editable piece of artwork.

have you tried importing the eps into photoshop and importing the psd files into InDesign?

yeah, make it a psd and then place it in indesign.

i don't know what you're creating the logo in, but AI CS2 .eps supports transparency, as does the prev CS version i believe... ?
there will be a transparency setting in the eps save options, just make sure to use a 300 ppi or higher.

it doesnt allow the transparent shape to stay transparent if i save as CS2 eps. it makes the shape 100% with no transparency.
i will just have to place the AI file in indesign.
now is there a way I can make it into a jpg/gif or other format so that it will work in MS word for templates, or is that impossible?
