Rude Service

If there is one thing thats starting to bug me in Canada, its how many rude people there seems to be working in retail or restaurants. After travelling in the states I have found the service to be much more friendly for the most part and people want to work for their money. Most of the time shoping around Toronto, it is as if these people are going out of their way to do a big favour for me. You can always tell when they are pissed off because you asked them a question or whatever, It is your fucking job! I am suprised when there is actually good service.
So anyways while shopping at a store called Sporting Life last night with a friend, I am looking to buy new jeans, and there is some thugged out employee is folding shirts standing in front of like 3 columns of "cubby holes" where the jeans are kept. He dosn't offer to help, and I can't look at half the jeans cause hes standing there.
So i look at some other stuff, I don't want to bug him, and finally he moves, so I go back and start looking at the jeans.
Not less than 30 seconds later hes back with attitude "your kinda in my way, im working here"
The guy tells me to basically move because he needs to fold shirts. I put the jeans down and said I guess you don't want me to buy anything, and he shrugged and made some sound that expressed utter disregard and annoyance. I told my friend to get his name as he walked by. He got the name and on our way back to the front desk all we hear is "faggots" muttered under his breath!
He wasn't sure he read his name right so I decided to confront him and ask him for his name, he goes WHY! and turns around before I can read his name tag and walks away in my face. Then he yells out some fake name, and employee confirms it was the name we thought it was.
Anyways to make a long story short, I filed a complaint with the assistant manager, and to make sure it got dealt with I wrote an email to head office.
I recieved a call this morning and they appologized, left a gift certificate waiting at the store for me, and most importantly informed me that they are terminating the guy this afternoon when he arrives for his shift.
I encourage anyone as frustrated as myself to do the same next time you encounter some shitty service.

The poor guy will probably starve to death now...
...not really.

let me sum this up for anyone not willing to read the whole thing:
"I wasn't treated importantly enough at a clothing outlet, so i threw a fit and got some minimum wage earning kid fired"
- NegativeSpace0
Being called a faggot by an employee isnt being treated important enough?
oh ok.

If you can't give proper service you don't deserve the job. Suits him right to be fired. I would've done the same thing.

this is often true in areas with a high prevalence of depressive mental illness

I think you may have gone a little far.
- NegativeSpace0
Exactly what jox said. They are getting paid to work in the store and help customers, I am paying money in the store. In fact I didn't ask for help from him once or even expect him too, I just wanted to check out some shit he was blocking, and I get attitude for it.
- version30
boo hoo, he didn't call you names until you started snaking his job with your bad attitude
i can see why most would agree with you though.... clients never choose the right comp, call late before something else to make changes, kinda confused in general...
so to make up for it, go shit on someone else, sad all you could find is a retail clerk to take it out on
i bet you and your girl had some great "look how i fucked that guy over" sex
what a twat

Actually it goes more like this:
"There's this ass-hatted thug who's too stupid to properly work his retail job. He's also too stupid to hold any customer service skills. So to save him a lot of trouble and open his eyes a bit, I complained and got him fired. Guess his parents should've spanked him after all..."
- mrdobolina0
here is what I would have said to him and him alone:
"I guess that is why you are folding shirts instead of having a real job."
You took it too far man.

had it coming... bloody french! :D

The intent was probably not to get the guy fired, but to give him a shake so he does his job properly.
I think more customers have to do that.
I on the other hand, have been living in Holland for over a year now, so when I came back to Canada for the holidays, I was so impressed with how friendly everyone was.
- NegativeSpace0
Yeah I never intended to get the guy fired, just to make sure it would be dealt with and they were aware of it. If I was a store owner and was paying money to people who were treating customers like shit, I would want to know about it. I don't even want their gift certificate.
The fact that he got fire was their choice, and I have no bad feelings about it. Could have easily been avoided if he did not act that way.

Version3
"i can see why most would agree with you though.... clients never choose the right comp, call late before something else to make changes, kinda confused in general..."I suppose if you want to compare yourself to an imbecile who can't even do his job right...
- mrdobolina0
I hope you never see the dude on the street.
- JamesEStone0
...he might brush past you or something
- todelete__20
he called you a faggot?
you should have kicked his ass seabass.
- NegativeSpace0
Haha I was thinking about that this morning. I can only imagine if he can't conduct himself while doing his job.
Yeah I went in there being as happy as can be, I have no frustrations from my job or anything else. If I went in there with attitude I would have told him to move instead of waiting patiently for him to move out of the way.
