I think MF Doom might be the best mc ever.
He has been around since the 80's and finally reached his peak in the late 90's and is completely excelling right now. His lyrics would destroy any popular rappers and so on.

quake is better... whats an MC?
I still like Mos Def the best :)

Now I don't mean to diss her but I use to know a sister that could put a whole fist in her...
Hell I made it, Mama
How about a grammy for the World's most celebrated rhymer.Yeah, he's the best.

exactly dab.

Personally tho MF is goood I dont think he can hold a candle to Eric B, Kool Keith, Gift of Gab, Edan, or Del. Oh and Roots Manuva or Ty from across the pond.

deadandgone, bsides keith. what have they done lately.
keith only talks about watersports now.

Edan???
Please...All the guy did was make a record paying homage to all of his MC heroes, nothing about him is innovative.

I also thought The Craft was pretty lackluster, with the exception of
"Black Diamonds"Love that track.

new school: doom (hands down)
old school: kane (no competition)

uk mc's can sit down.
i dunno mf doom super well, but what dab posted as far as rhymes go is pretty tight. damn.
not much is touching jay-z either. can't front on an mc that can rap at that calibre and never write.

Abdominal and Aesop Rock both have great flow.

Copywrite too.

An ill excerpt from MF DOOM's Live from Planet X. He rhymes over De La's Peas Porridge for all you groms.

k straight up, old school wise anyone on marly marls the symphony can be ruled the best mc ...
new school, no doubt mf doom, aesop rock, ghost face killah are the strongest contenders.
though i gotta tell ya i recently saw digable planets perform live, and they were jaw droping at how tight they were.

for me though, it's less about how flossy it is but how complex it is. for instance, doom, ghostface and even bd kane flow in ways that have you listening and thinking about what they said like two verses later. it's like you have a hard time keeping up becuase you're trying to decipher the visuals. and then it's all stitched together with clever wordplay.
jay-z does this as well but it's way toned down and it's mostly about him, "i'm this and that.." which is just getting tired imo.
kane is all about the 'i'm the best' but it's just so dope how he does it, not to mention at 300mph. and that's how it was back then anyway, so you have to respect it.

MF Doom was soooo much better as Zev Love X... his flow is shit these days.

MF Doom... Too tight for words, but if you wanna get deep... Warcloud, man this guy is somewhere else (check his track America).
