what do you mean by "HTML text over a SWF"?
elaborate on what your'e trying to do.

say you have a dropdown nav with a swf file beneath it. The dropdown falls under the swf file.

ex: http://www.genesishcc.com/index.…
works on macbut on pc the the nav goes behind the map. I have seen a thread here
just cannt find it:(

try searching on z-indexing for flash and html

divs and z-index

i think that i posted in that thread.
here is what we came up with:1- use wmode=transparent in the object/embed tags
2- use z-index (futile, but just for fun)
3- place the menu code lower in your html file than the object tag (kind of an ad hoc way of z-indexing)
4 - dont expect it to be great in every browser. I have used this and it is great in PCIE, good in FF, and poor in safari.
If a client insists on doing this, make sure that you set the expectations very low, because it is a technical nightmare. If they think that it is going to be perfect every time, they will be sadly disappointed.
also - milonic.com has a solution which uses iframes and a lot of js. very clunky, but looks pretty good.

think this might be what you're looking for.

that is nice and all, but my experiences are that problems occur when the screen redraws.
ie. when the flash is moving or the menu is show/hiding.

Jesus Christ
Maybe we could have a 'wmode=transparent' column next to the PVN?

So with div's and whatnot, are you able to do the major css work of a page, with having individual swf's contained within various div's?
Usually with flash pages I have it only as Flash and nothing else, but I'm going to be doing a few pages soon for other people and plan on integrating CSS, CFML, and Flash as well within a single site.
Thanks in advance.

Not quite sure what you're asking....
