this is an initial layout for the american society of bioethics and humanities website. they want "something that is relatively simple + that does not require a lot of images or artwork".
please let me know what you think of the layout, color scheme, type/image usage, etc. I'm just not quite sure. start over, go with it, tweak it?
Thanks!!

thanks for the quick input!
the top navbar had me concerned as well... in their email, they stated....
"...does not require a lot of images or artwork, but includes some navigation bars..."
Do you have any suggestions for the menu sys. or any examples of simple/classy menus?
thanks again!

I dig the colors and images too.
Welcome and In the Spotlight keep snagging my eyes away from anything else. Maybe shrink them and make 'em the same size. I might also drop the box behind the doctors name and info.

yeah, the menu needs a bit more works. I wouldn't merge it with the bg white color but have it stand out some way.
Also, i don't think a stethoscope is the image you wish to associate with bioethics. If it is about discussing principles, methods and practices, genetics, society, etc, i'd go for a more general image to give an analitycal overall feel. Structures, dna strings, cells, etc.
Nice work, btw.

you need to increase the type size. for your potential audience it's too small.
the 'welcome' and 'in the spotlight text' - your link colour (presuming it's the grey) is making the links disappear within the background colour.
agree with the 'wrong image' comment.
hope that helps.

Looks nice, and I like what jevad did with removing the plus signs.
I think it'd be alot cooler if you could make the doctor be wagging his finger "no" at someone trying to get a human and a zebra to mate.
I mean, it's a nice layout, but nothing there really suggest bioethics as effectively as it should.

jevad: Thanks for taking a look at the menu and suggesting a narrower sans.... I think that may be the way to go, it separates, compliments, contrasts, and cleans up the area nicely. I may have been relying a little too much on the serif in the concept.
winter: You are absolutely correct, bioethics covers a broad range of topics, and the stethoscope may unintentionally give too narrow of a feel. One solution may be to have random images on page load, or as you suggested using cells, dna strands etc. I'll take another look and work the problem.
I appreciate your time!!
any other suggestions?
Thanks Again!
