Anybody came across this problem?.
I have a network in my house that I set up, Imac, minimac, and an xbox, going through a router etc. works perfectly fine, as you can see I am using my Imac to type this, but all of a sudden my mini mac doesn't want to go online!!, xbox fine, imac fine, checked cables fine all setting are correct.....
Any help is appreciated I'm about the throw the mother out my window yo!!. I've restartd tonnes of times and reset my router tonnes of times also :(

adsl or broadband?
have you tried using just the mini without the others connected?
- rasko40
yea you should definately find out f it is adsl OR broadband
hahaha.
are you setup using DHCP? I had this problem when I had a PC on the network, kept knocking me offline and reassigning its own IP address so I had to restart.. pain in the ass.

Is this network wireless?

first step... go to the Network pane in the MacMini. Does it show that it has been assigned an IP address by the router's DHCP server?

thanks for your help guys I really don't know what to do I am completely lost in this situation.... I am close to phoning some tech. to come out and having to pay them to fix it for me :( I just can't understand why it doesn't work all of a sudden but this computer works fine.
as you can see the pictures show that everything should be a ok with my mini mac.

does the 1st pic not show you as being connected?
or is that from the machine where it's working?
- chossy0
Fucking precisely MX my man I AM seeing the internets with my mini mac thats where the pictures are from!!.
It just doesn't let me view web pages on any browser and my mail doesn't work etc. etc.
Also when I boot up my xbox I can go online in the dashboard but as soon as I go onto a game it doesn't let me go online!!! but this imac is fine!!!! and it is connected through the same switcher as the rest of the computers and they all have different ip adresses.
- chossy0
the cables MUST be fine cause I transferred the images you see over the network into my drop bos on this thing here!!! I'm going to cry.

are you with blueyonder?
- foreign0
firewall?
- MX_OnD0
In fact even if you're not with blueyonder, might be worth checking.. how many IP adresses do they allow?
We had the problem once, we had to map just one IP address to the Router itself and connect all machines to the Router... then it was fine, could be the same with your provider?

I AM GOING TO EXPLODE >:G

um, we cant help if you wont tell us what your IP is... (just to be sure its not self -assigned) Is it a valid LAN IP address from your DHCP server?
And.... Very important... Often on the Mac you MUST have the DNS servers entered in that panel...otherwise it wont resolve web addresses... (even if your router is reporting the ISP's DNS addresses, you have to put em in the Network pane as well)
- rasko40
your IP address will likely read 192.168.0.anything from 1 - 255
if not that is your problem and restart will be necessary.
I have this problem with using my neighbours wifi, though mostly it is ok, same symptoms though.
- ribit0
have you filled in the DNS server details in the Network pane?
- ribit0
even if it works without em on the other one...
- chossy0
No I have never had these details filled in, Basically the network worked fine for months yesterday at about 2pm it broke !!!.

i was thinking cos maybe your XPFE is running over your Cross Platform Front End and that doesn't seem to be on the same eXtensible User-interface Language as your TCP/IP, you with me? could be worth a go-over..
so i'd suggest just simply re-plugging over your 'dotted quad', so then you can free up the 'gateway', cos it seems you got a number of additional protocols built on top of your CDMA, such as 1xRTT, i might be wrong but it's worth checking out! never knew they had tinternet in chillijockland until this morning, so i'm alwasy willing to help the third world and that..when i did a seminar there the overhead projector didn't fucking work either! daft eh?
