Where is the best place to learn about action scripting animation? Please dont say ultrashock

ultrashock

no really, I think you can learn there, a lot of successful animators we are like magicians, we will give away some of our tricks, but not everything. know what I mean?
So with that say, i think the best way you can learn is with practice and coming out with your own ideas. I learned a lot when I was doing that, just playing around and coming out with all weird sort of cobos. Also join a mailing list and try to help there, you will see how much you can learn trying to figure out some people's problems, and if you cant, most of the time some one will and your knowledge will increase.
Ok, that is it, no more secrets revealed.

I dont want any secrets...I just need to get started. Ive been working crazy hours for the past year so I have not had the time to experiment lately. But the last time I messed around with an ultrashock tut. seems like they left out some important install info for the motion classes they were using. Poor instructions are normally the pitfall of most online tuts. =(
Im just trying to find something that fully explains what is what so I get back to messing around for a bit

yeah here to:
http://www.actionscript.org/acti…
fully functional scripts, I have posted some of my own too.

gotoandlearn.com does great tutorials and laco.wz.cz/tween/ will make your life so much easier..
- CyBrainX0
I will second that:
http://laco.wz.cz/tween/Very easy.

the Fuse kit from Moses Gunesch is a must. It expands on Zigo's tweening code.
- stuff0
Laco is the easiest.

i kind of like the dynTween for www.tatsuokato.com. it is very easy to use...

I found an older book -
dragslidefade - which i just love.
Its perfect for me as its aimed at designers and explains AS coding in a way i can understand.
But maybe toooo basic for you?
- stuff0
you really can't get simpler than laco's tweens.
just type things like...
yourMovieClip.alphaTo(100, 1);
yourMovieClip.colorTo(0xFFFFFF, 1)
yourMovieClip.slideTo(50, 1)+ the classes and external files do the rest of the work. Once you get the hang of the basics you can then start implementing more complex scripts along with them.

Speaking personally from a designer's perspective, all I want is a simple function that will tween whatever I choose. I don't want to spend the time trying to understand classes and prototypes or using countless frame loops. After studying Penner and looking over Actionscript.org's tute on built in MX classes, I finally have what I want with some adaptation of the tute's code:
function tweenIt(mc,MCproperty,easeType,b... {
var end = begin+changeValue;
allTween = new mx.transitions.Tween(mc, MCproperty, easeType, begin, end, time);
}You can attach it to a button or acitivate it anyway you like:
myButton.onRelease = function() {
cR=-90;
t=120
tweenIt('myMC,'_rotation',mx.tra...
};I just tell it to start and it does the tween I told it to on the property I want without knowing a thing about classes or prototypes. Not an original script I'm sure, but if fyou want to tween something without too much studying, use what's built in to Flash. This is one way to do it. All purpose and plug-in play.

I've beeen trying to download this stuff from laco and i try to unstuff and they all jacked. the extension manager(1.7) doesn't recognize the file, stuffit can't expand the stuffed files. WTF am I doing wrong here?
all i need is this file and I can seem to get it:
#include "lmc_tween.as"

the extension package is invalid. The extension will not be installed.
anybody?

Yea I was having issues with some of those packages as well, I downloaded them a while ago and was not sure where to put them. And I didnt know if the classes they gave had to sit on the site in order to play the swfs properly...yada yada..I guess I just need to take a vaca for about a week or so to get a real chance to play around with flash again. Hopefully macromedia will make it easier for us designer types to use math based movements in flash without the coding

i bought this today
