thinking of buying a lcd monitor. Would you recommend some decent options? 19inch+, Not apple displays.

whatever you buy, make sure you check it for dead pixels before handing over your cash.
i had a nightmare with nec displays and dead pixels

doh. did u get a refund replacement in the end?
- geeque0
only after going mental at them.
the law is on their side. ISO 13406-2 is the standard, which allows manufacturers to sell new lcds with dead pixies.
get it out of the box before parting with cash, seriously, i wish i had. it would've saved me lots of headaches and phone calls

shows you how many legally you can have at native res without them having to change it.
BTW, buy on your credit card, not debit and if you have a problem... drop it on the floor and claim on the card insurance ;)

all manufacturers have different policies... When I asked Apple about dead pixels before buying a 30" display, they said 'if you dont like the display in any way just send it back'. Pretty simple.
In the end I thought30" was just too big, so I got them to pick it up (they pay for delivery and pickup). Then I bought a 23" Cinema display. nice.

(should mention..there was a one week limit on that evaluation period)

i'm a little fuzzy on this, but
some say Dell monitor is too bright for Macs
is there a gamma thing -
pc darker - macs brighter?
