gimme the video i'll do it
- chossy0
Hey thanks for the responses but itunes and quicktime will not do it.
Anybody got any other ideas.

you do realise that mpg and mp3 are 2 different formats, as in 1 is video and the other audio?
I assume that you are trying to extract the audio from the video and save that out as an mp3. QT Pro will do this as will Final Cut and even iMovie. Mail it to me if you want and I'll sort it for you, no problem.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm why when I try on quicktime pro is the audio option greyed out on every computer and when I import it into final cut the audio does not come with it, and when I try to take it into itunes the computer has an error message when I try to export the media, I have tried this on five computers ranging from, os 9.1 to the latest X and with avid and final cut studio 5. Has my whole work got bugs and shite bought software.

which codec was used for the audio?
- chossy0
It is one that we have here as I created the mpg, I am just wondering how to separate the audio tracks from an mpg.

Have you tried dragging it into iTunes then converting it to mp3? Has done the job for me before.
- chossy0
yep, and nope it does not work.
- digilee0
as I've said, you can't do it so mail it over to me and I'll sort it for you.

I'd like to thank you for your efforts digilee, also thank you for taking the time to do that test. I assumed you would be showing me how to do it in either final cut, imovie, quicktime, and even itunes, why didn't you use those?. Can you tell me if there is a free program that does it.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

chossy,
just for the record, i said I'd do this yesterday and just got it done, when i saw the thread had grown, in Adobe Premiere Pro
it was simple.
open > new project > import footage > disable video > export audio to wav
i then converted the wav to mp3 with itunes
a wierd thing though was it sounds accelerated in the mpg file but once its extracted it plays at the correct speed. I don't know if this is due to improper coding or you had actually sped up that song for the video, the thing is though it sounded right after extracting it
sounds like girls by prodigy which is actually a 4m:07s song
would you like a copy of the complete song?
