how do you feel about sharing designs before they're finished?
is there a clause in your contracts that prevents you from doing so?
if you are an inhouse designer what is the policy at your company?

bad idea... period.

sun tzu in the art of war advises never to allow your enemy know what you are preparing before you unleash it. i always use that rule when doing design work because it makes the release so much more impactful

hopefully i get half my money up front.
then when i show them the concept it makes the client think twice about stealing it.
and, in my contract it states all artwork is owned by me blah blah meaning they can't take it halfway through and run with it without me suing their ass or firebombing their company.

addendum to kOna's contract.
I reserve the right to stab you like i would a hobo in june if you even look at me funny. If you think about looking at me funny see hammer crap addendum #3.

well...i don't think my company has ever had a client that wanted to see the design before it's finished...it gets initially approved, then they don't see it again until it's done.
any idea why the client is asking?

are you responsible for the account/communication with client? if not, ask the person that is. i often get clients phoning me directly, asking for stuff... i just refer them to my MD, or CD.

i'm thinking more about showing the design to other designers for input.
for instance, posting things on here for crits...
i don't have a specific situation in mind, but i am curious

the last thing you want to do is post the design here for crit.
but email it to other designer friends and get their input for sure. i usually email designs to a couple of people i know from NT and that helps a lot.
