I'll need to buy a new car radio so I can buy the box that hooks your iPod up to your car radio. But I'm cheap and was wondering if any of you guys use the Monster Cable FM Transmitter for your iPod.

Does it work well or is there a better one? Or should I stop being a cheapskate and upgrade my car radio?

i have the older i trip and its so-so... the only thing that sucks is that it eats y our battery alive.
apparently the newer itrip with the digital tune in (so much easier than the old configuration) is easier to find a perfect frequency and lighter on your battery life.

This transmitter I posted charges your iPod as u use it.

iTrip = waste of $50 what a shit product.

i have an iTrip and for the most part it works great, but where I live it's nearly impossible to pick up a radio station very well so there is not too much interference.

itrip was only $30 when i got it?
the only bad thing is the audio comes through real low, so my stereo can only go so loud with it without sounding like shit. see if your stereo has an aux inline in the back and just get a radio shack cord and rig it up

I'm worried about the signal and sound quality using the transmitter.

So no one has used the Monster Cable...?

I have not personally used the monster cable but have heard very good things about it.

for those of you that have the iTrip:

Any FM Transmitter is going to be subject to interference. I had one and it sucked. Couldn't find a clear enough frequency to get a clean signal.
I'd upgrade the stereo to one with inputs.

don't expect an excellent sound quality from this, even from Monster Cable. I tried it and sucks pretty bad. Better of buying the head unit that has ipod capability. Alpine has one. More info: http://www.apple.com/ipod/ipodyo…

I have the Monster cable thing - and now it charges my iPod, nothing more. The quality in the city [I live in Minneapolis, we have lots of radio I guess] was total shit. I tried all over the freaking band and no love. BUT- When I'm on the freeway in the boonies, it works just great.
I have an older 2002 4Runner and it has a tape deck I use for nothing, so I use a tape adapter - which sound quality sux but better than crappy radio - in the city [I think it was like $20] and the Monstercable thinger as a charger.
imo if you live in a major metro area its not worth the cash fir the monster transmitter/charger.

I had that monster cable, but since you are constantly charging the battery, It ruins the battery life... (you know the story where you have to let your ipod run out of power before you charge?)
so I got this http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-…
and its decent. better than Itrip cause you don't need to have all the stations on your ipod, but the sound quality is blah.
