I think I'm going to get the MPIO 256MB player. It seems really great, and I don't need much more space than that. Basically, I wanted something with managable folders and an FM player, and I found something much better!

I like this one jaline I think it is nicer than the other one you wanted to get, if you go for it you HAVE to get the pink one oh yeah. :D

haha, thanks Choss. I'll be getting the red/pink one if that colour is available, otherwise the blue one has to suffice.

Why are people having a go at the ipod just because it is the most popular. It's still a very good mp3 player with an innovative click wheel navigation, and which is the only thing that integrates with the ease of use of itunes.
It seems people that avoid a quality product/brand simply due to its popularity are ignorant simpletons so there.

(Nov 13 05, 13:41)I admit I do this, but also for things that are overrated and/or over priced. I don't have problems with the iPod...just that it's too expensive for an MP3 player, and isn't really my style. I do love how simple-looking it is though.
Anyway, there are many other MP3 players that integrating that click-wheel into their systems now, so you can get something with that (obviously not to the same degree), and cheaper.

Until an indestructible slimline 120gb video iPod which doesn't require iTunes comes out, I'm sticking with small MP3 players from Creative. I'm on my second one now (1st one was smashed beyond repair) and am happy that it works as a dicatphone and radio too.

It ain't pretty, but I don't wear it around my neck, so it don't matter..

deadpixels - agreed.
i wouldn't choose anything except the ipod. integration with itunes quite important to me. i can't imagine that the other players have the functionality and useability of the ipod/itunes. prove me wrong.
everyone is mentioning costs. really? show me a competitor to the ipod that has equal storage space for much less money? i have seen that the cost savings is negligable.

I agree that iPod's are great, but I have no need for that much space and don't want to spend that much money right now.
Plus, my MPIO has excellent folder management that's decent enough for me.

I have an idea.
Go shopping, tryout a few different models out, see which one YOU like best and buy that one!!!
This is all very subjective. people have bad experiences with everything so no matter what one person says there will always be someone that says " I had that piece of crap an it died within a week" etc. also Sound is a very personal thing.

I got the Creative Zen Sleek, 20gb.
I checked out the iPod, but the integration with the pc/mac is pretty ropey. The sleek will just plug in, and just work via drag and drop. I wanted the radio too.
As with all of them, change the ear buds.
