fairy tale illustrators

Few years ago I saw an exhibition of Kiki Smith at MOMA, NYC:

Am wondering if anyone has links to similar works of artists/illustrators who take on the fairtytale mythologies and give a scary twist.
I loved the illustrations of Tim Burton in "The Boy with Nails" in his eyes too. Stuff like that.
I think, unlike ur average children illustrators that we see in bookshops, people like Kiki Smith or even Burton (though they are very different) actaully illustrate the real fear and dread and unease that the oral traditions of central europe aroused in kids.
