Could anyone point me toward some good Indian tunes?

funny u ask, actually just about 3 weeks back, i picked up an amazing album called "India Vision", and it had a good 20 Bollywood theme trax from the 60s througth the 80's - unfortun. i got wasted with a few friends at their apt. and i lost it there :(
keep an eye out for that album - i killed it like the first week :)

^ tight comp.
i dig the older stuff. ...alot more soulful and gritty than current films. ...the new stuff has a "boy band" production aesthetic in music and dance.

These are def worth a listen too. ...mixed, but still old school bollywood goodness.

Ravi Shankar, Sounds of India.

Sorry, Ravi Shankar is about as far from Bollywood as it gets.
Like confusing Leonard Bernstein with N'Sync.
