Is it worth going for a week of chilling?
any advice?

overrated mostly, but that depends, of course, where in greece.

Try to find non-touristy spots. Not a lot of places offer as much charm as the traditional greece, but not a lot of places can suck (read: greek tourist spots) as much either.
Grab the same flight as the party people and go the opposite direction when you land. ^_^
Or, if everything else fails, try Germany.

What are you looking for? I don't know if it's hot enough for going to the beach etc.
I'm going to Thessaloniki in October to see my family but it can be quite cool especially if you haven't been there before. It's a fairly big city (second biggest after Athens) and beach resorts are an hour's drive away or less.

It really depends what you are wanting to do. In october I don't think is going to be as crowded as in July or August.
I went on a little island called IOS, very cool, so pretty and great beaches.

I'd go a bit further and do Turkey instead - more ruins & probably cheaper.
In Side (See-day: east of Antalya) I stayed in a pension for $5 US a night. Full view of the Med. and across the street from the beach.
October is a great time, nice & quite and almost NO tourists!

ive been to thessoloniki, and down to the beaches around halkidiki. really nice and not TOO crowded.
then went to the islands. samos is nice, patmos, rhodes also.
just stay away from santorini and mykonos.

of CoUrSE it is ! :) if you have the chance to go, you should. I went there when I was very young (my grandmother is from greece) and had an amazing time..of course it might be skewed by a childs perspective..but what better one to take advice from hehe.

ps, I remember the greek isles and getting lost in all the little costal towns there, down alleyways, the buildings, it was spectacular......

thanks for the tips.
the g/f mentioned something along the lines of camping and a bikini. :)
we need to go as south as possible.
my other choice is south of spain around granada or sommat.

definitely its one of the best times of year to visit Greece , and if you do that I would recommend santorini or mykonos , cause there will be few party people now , and very low prices..
