how many hours do u roughly sleep a day? cos some days i sleep over 12 hours, some days couple of hours... iit fuck me up... how do i get it back to balance?

when i'm in bed i don't want to get out. i could easily stay in bed for 14 hours, but too much sleep makes me more tired.
if i force myself to only sleep for 6-7 hours a night i feel much more energy the next day.

8 usually or just over, your body doesnt need more than that
"historical records show that Da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson and other notables occasionally followed a sleep schedule that includes about two hours of sleep a day, and used their extra time to follow through on some of their most ambitious projects."
"Better dreams: The dreams of a Da Vinci sleeper are often intense and memorable. REM sleep is the time when dreams happen, and all people dream several times a night whether they remember it or not. Enhanced recall of dreams is often a matter of transferring from REM to alertness more quickly than usual. Without a "buffer" of non-REM sleep, Da Vinci sleepers often have pleasant, extremely vivid dreams."

As far as I know REM cycles (when you dream) get progressively longer the longer you are asleep. Meaning the most intense dreams are usually at the end of a long period sleep.
The cycle which you dream might start out at 5 min. and the next time it's 10 min... etc... so after 9 hours your dream cycle is like 40 minutes long.
I could be wrong, that's just what I half-remember from class.
