hey guys,
im working on a pretty big piece that i just got to the point where im very happy with it. ive been saving it every 10 minutes, but now that ive got everything as it should be, it says 'could not save because of a disk error'. is there anyway i can save it to a .psd? i know i can take a screen shot of it, but then my layers are gone. is there any way to salvage this or is it fucked?
thanks in advance.

yeah i've had to deal with this before it's a ram/ not using alternative drives prob i think
can you plug an ext drive to it and try there?
- mattyd0
yeah, i was given that advice, but - wouldnt ya know it - i dont have any external drives

use Disk Utility to create a temp volume on your desktop, and try saving onto that... ?

this is a long shot but i seem to remember it working for me in the past. duplicate the document and try saving again as a different name...

lower the amount of space your scratch disks utilize. if the changes don't take place immediately, then delete any layers that won't take long to redo, save it, close photoshop, remake the layers, and try again.

no! wait don't kill it...
Disk utility/ images/ new/ blank image...
try it!

that's a really nice trick to know though, word em up horton
- horton0
nice - glad it worked.
you can trash/ eject the mounted volume anytime.. your psd file should be saved inside the original .dmg
if you're feeling sketchy about your drives you could just backup that temp volume onto a CDR.. either save the .dmg file as you would any file, or you could burn the mounted volume if you've got Toast.

word up, just rebooted and got the piece working again.
its all good now. much thanks once more. can't thank you enough. also, thanks for the tip for the future too horton.
