When I save file as .pdf from illustrator and there's an image (jpg) the file gets huge.
Example image 90kb a bit of text and I ger 2Mb pdf file.
What am I doing wrong?

I usally re-export them through Distiller to get the size down.

or use the Reduce File Size command in Acrobat...?

When you save a pdf in Illy you have all kinds of options when saving like resolution, etc. This will do the trick. Also, you never want placed jpgs as a rule. Only tiff or eps.

I agree with RADAR-
use Acrobat Distiller -
Version 7 lets you create Custom Settings, too (ie:compatibility, compression, resolution)

i run into this problem a lot.. a couple things:
- the image is probably embedded into the AI file and therefore creating a much bigger PDF.. open the original AI file and relink the image, then save the PDF again. it will be a much smaller PDF.
- don't place jpegs.. place tiff or eps and then use the jpeg compression options when saving to pdf.

Distiller, like they said.
