a brief

greetings!
I am designing a site for a friend and I got a crazy (but cool) brief.
Can anyone think of some good examples that address some or all these points?
//BEGIN BRIEF
a very SMART looking site
no nonsense
a little odd, even, in its straight-forward approach
radically old-school
text/character-heavy design as graphics rather than "graphics" as graphics
Dumb, but smartly so
Future-retro
a research - thinking site -- A NOTEBOOK -- with footnotes, and a twist.
Text and ideas, with a random thumbnail peaking through
and a veil revealing layers deeper into the portfolio
//END BRIEF
Cheers!

First thing that came to mind was DOS/Amiga interface. Show some old-school screens and pixel fonts, simple navigation, keep things clean. Should be a breeze.

that is an insane, schitzofrenic, and self-contradicting creative brief...
but I can see something really trick coming out of it, assuming you can make sense of it
good luck with that one!

yeah, wtf:
• a very SMART looking site
• no nonsense
• a little odd, even, in its straight-forward approach
• radically old-school
• text/character-heavy design as graphics rather than "graphics" as graphics
• Dumb, but smartly soSomebody thought they were being mad creative when they wrote this. Is this the riddle that the 3 billy goats had to answer?

yeah, i've heard that friends become not friends sometimes after doing business. get paid up front.

if someone puts " radically old-school" in a brief along with other contradictory statements, you can do whatever you want. just make something good and he'll either like it, or hate it and you'll stop being friends.

Um, I really think the Amiga/Dos/Commodre64 interface thing, prettied up for the web and integrating some graphics is going to work in this case....hell, I'd really like to do it myself, I think I could execute this well.

i think the brief is both absolutely insane and very inspiring. i'm pretty clear on what she wants. i just figured that NT would 1)get a kick out of the brief and 2) possibly have some sites that i could show her so that we are all on the same proverbial page.
something good will def. come out of this one.
